If you are a college student, or know of one, please listen up! This is a public service announcement for the wallets of college students everywhere (and their parents!). Technology has taken us a long way by bringing people who need something together with other people who have something to get rid of. CampusBookRentals.com has revolutionized the textbook industry by allowing college students to rent textbooks at up to 80% off the cost of purchasing.

This is obviously brilliant because most students will only need their books for one or two semesters at a time. But what about the students who already have a pile of textbooks laying around that they will no longer use? Now they can rent those books out to other students through RentBack.com. Here is how it works:

The part I love the most is that they make it so simple to send in your books! Let’s face it, college students are busy creatures, so to be able to print a free shipping label and stick it in the mail is a priceless feature. More importantly, the books can be rented over and over and the student will continue to make money! I just think this is such a practical way to re-use textbooks and help students save and earn money.

The good news doesn’t stop there, the folks at CampusBookRentals.com like to give back. They have continued to partner with Operation Smile and use a portion of their profit to donate surgery procedures to children with cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities around the globe.

Do you have textbooks laying around that you no longer use? Or are you the parent of a college student who still needs to purchase books? Make sure to check out these two great programs and don’t forget you are helping to give back to children in need!

  1. I wish I would have known about this service when I was in school. I would have loved to just RENT books. Especially the ones from classes that were not my major. I have a couple laying around that the bookstore wouldn’t buy back. I’ll never read them again. So silly to have to BUY them all. What a great idea! I hope it’s still around when my kiddos are in college so we can go this route!
