Interior Designs Ideas {From Inexpensive to Extravagent}

disclosure1

I am not a natural at interior design; I am pretty simple minded when it comes to color schemes and furniture layout, it just doesn’t click for me! In an effort to help myself with some organizational thoughts in this area, I have put together this list of some ideas. I hope that it helps you too!

1. Bedroom – Homemade headboard and colorful lamps! I have seen some great examples of DIY headboards made from plywood, foam and sturdy fabric on HGTV and Pinterest. This would be a great centerpiece to any room, and a simple way to customize your bed. If you have a pair of old, tired lamps, you can spray paint them and buy some new shades to spruce them up.

2. Bathroom – Bathrooms are my favorites to re-do. Shower curtains are relatively cheap, and set the mood for the whole bathroom. I usually keep the rugs and towels really neutral, that way I don’t have to change them out every time. Browns, grays and whites work well. Wall decals are a fun way to add some pops of color to the room, just make sure to clean the wall well, and purchase high quality decals. Cheap decals tend to peel off the wall due to the moisture.

3. Living Room РOK, this is the area that I feel like needs to have some more time and money spent. In my house, the living room is the first room that guests see when they walk in. If I had it my way, I would use some of the amazing ideas that are used by London interior design  companies. They seem to have the most classy, clean and elegant designs. Bright, happy colors (think pale blues, yellows and greens) set a great tone, and it is easy to swap out different accessories over time to give the space a new feel. Window treatments are a quick and fairly inexpensive way to change up a room.

4. Kitchen – Kitchens can really go either way, you can put forth a lot of money and time to dramatically change the space, or you can just add a few touches here and there to spruce it up. If you want to go the whole 9 yards, I suggest purchasing a cabinet refinishing kit, new hardware, and a fresh new countertop. Tile or wood floors are always popular upgrades in kitchens, and most are easy to keep clean! If you want to go the more inexpensive route, new hardware and a new paint color on the walls will go a long way. If your counter space is feeling cluttery (mine always is!) you may just need to invest in some cupboard and pantry organizational systems to help more things hidden, yet easily accessible.

I hope this this will help you to organize your home makeover dreams! As for me, I am off to change out the shower curtains….

  2. We keep our walls pretty neutral in coloring – that way when we want to redecorate, all we are doing is changing out accents (like pillows or wall hangings) just to add a bit of difference. I agree with the shower being the easiest to change…. Maybe ill change ours when hubbys at work Monday! :D

  3. I just recently got the ‘itch’ to redo my bathroom and living room. Like you said, I changed the curtain and it really changed the whole room. I went with grey, white and turquoise – I love it! The living room… I need help! I have an idea of what I want, but it’s not falling into place the way I want.
