Recycled Magazine Beads – DIY

Turn old magazines and store ads into unique paper beads in just a few easy steps! Perfect craft to do with the kids!

What you need:

~ Magazines or store ads (that are glossy like magazines)

~ White Glue

~ Scissors

~ Pencils

BeadCollage

What you do:

Step 1: Cut magazine pages into strips that are about 1/2 inch wide

Step 2: Lay one strip of magazine down, add a drop of glue on one end, lay a pencil across the strip, about 1 inch from the end.

Step 3: Fold the glue end of the strip over the pencil and make a crease so that it will roll easily. Add a line of glue all the way down the strip.

Step 4: Roll the pencil so that the paper in wound tightly against the pencil. This is messy!

Step 5: Using your finger nails, pull the bead off of the pencil. Set it out to dry.

Note: It takes some practice to be able to get the bead off of the pencil without unraveling it! Also, it is important to clean the glue residue off the pencil in between beads so that they don’t stick.
