DIY Hair Clips

My little girlies have some WILD hair! My youngest refuses to have it pulled back in a pony tail, so we usually sweep her bangs up and to the side with cutesy little hair clips. I recently came across all the supplies to make them myself and I was surprised at how inexpensive it was!

Here is a step by step guide to how I made them!

Alligator hair clips, I used 1 3/4″

Ribbon (at least as wide as the alligator clips)

Something to decorate the clips with (buttons, bows, flowers, etc)

Hot glue gun

Step 1: Cut a strip of ribbon, long enough to wrap all the way around the alligator clip

Step 2: Place a small drop of glue on the end of the inside of one of the clips, attach the end of the ribbon here

Step 3: Continue gluing and wrapping the ribbon all the way around the clip (including the part where you pinch it) Keep the clip open with your finger so that you don’t accidentally glue the clip shut. Be careful not to burn yourself!

Step 4: Once the glue has dried, attach your decorative piece with hot glue on the top, center of the clip

Once it is dry, you are ready to try it on your little princess. The bows are super duper easy because you can just slip the clip through the back of the pre-made bows and you are done! You don’t have to glue ribbon on or anything!

Do you make any fun accessories for yourself or your children?
